UPDATE for
2007:
The above
milling pattern is used for the 2 minute start time. Once the 30
second clock sounds, all competitors must go around the entire course -
in other words, no shortcuts. Anyone cutting in after the 30
second horn sounds will be given a one lap penalty.
Mill pattern
for 2006:
This is the
standard milling pattern used by the Alberta region of NAMBA Canada.
During the two minutes and 30 seconds prior to the start of the race all
competitors must use this milling pattern.
When your boat
is launched, you must make one COMPLETE lap of the course before you can
take an alternate route through the middle
During the
last five seconds of the countdown to start, you cannot cut the course
short - you must go all of the way around unless you have already started
the turn before the 5 second indicator. In other words: if you are
on the front straight and the countdown has reached 5 seconds until the
start - you must complete the full course - no short milling patterns
allowed
Boats on the
back straight have the right of way over boats merging from a short mill
pattern - if you cause another boat to have to avoid you when you merge
onto the back straight you will be given a lap penalty - or disqualified
if you cause the other boat to stop.
Any questions
regarding this milling pattern should be brought to the attention of the
contest director on the day of the race. The Contest Director is the
final authority...
